At Cedar Spring Family Dentistry, we know that losing a tooth can be a scary situation. We’re here to help you with a permanent replacement of a missing tooth, called an implant. This tooth “root,” or stabilizer, goes into the missing tooth area and becomes a sturdy base for a natural-looking, custom tooth crown. Implants can also can support multiple artificial teeth.
Once an implant is placed, a healing time of 3-6 months will allow the implant body to integrate into the bone tissue. This healing time is what makes the implant so strong. Once integration is complete, the implant is then restored, or placed into function.
An implant has three specific parts: implant body, custom abutment, and crown. An abutment holds the crown on top of the integrated implant. Once the crown is placed, the implant looks and functions exactly like a natural tooth.
Cedar Spring Family Dentistry has an excellent success rate in implant placement and restoration. If you have any questions, or would like to discuss your options for replacing missing teeth, give us a call today. We’ll take a 3D scan, and then our doctors and the oral surgeon will present options for treatment.
